Guidelines Issued for "Model Solar Village" Under PM-Surya Ghar.

• The govt. issued guidelines for implementing Model Solar Village under PM-Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, aiming to create one Model Solar Village per district.
• Villages with the highest renewable energy capacity in each district will receive a ₹1 crore grant.
• The scheme promotes solar energy adoption, with an overall budget of ₹75,021 crore, to be implemented by FY 2026-27.

India’s IIP Records 4.2% Growth in June 2024.

• India’s Index of Industrial Production (IIP) grew by 4.2% in June 2024, up from 4% in June 2023, as per the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation.
• Sector-wise growth:
• Mining: 10.3% growth
• Manufacturing: 2.6% growth
• Electricity: 8.6% growth
• The overall IIP growth for Q1 FY 2024-25 is 5.2%, compared to 4.7% in the previous fiscal year.

IIT Indore Develops Advanced Shoes with TENG Technology.

• IIT Indore has created advanced shoes using Tribo-Electric Nanogenerator (TENG) technology, designed to convert walking motion into electrical energy, which can power small devices.
• These shoes feature GPS for real-time location tracking, enhancing safety and coordination for military personnel, and have potential applications in sports, health monitoring, and factory attendance.

ESA's JUICE Mission to Attempt First-Ever Lunar-Earth Flyby.

• The JUICE mission is set for a Lunar-Earth flyby on August 19-20, 2024, marking the 1st double gravity assist maneuver using both the Moon and Earth.
• This maneuver will conserve significant propellant, crucial for JUICE's later mission, particularly its orbit around Jupiter's moon Ganymede.
• The mission aims to explore the habitability of Jupiter's icy moons: Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto.

IIT Madras topped NIRF List for 6th time; AIIMS Delhi led in Medical.

• IIT Madras retained top position in NIRF rankings for 6th consecutive year, leading in overall and engineering categories.
• AIIMS Delhi is the top medical institution, followed by PGIMER Chandigarh & CMC Vellore.
