India Makes First Payment for Sri Lanka Hybrid Power Projects.

  • India handed over the first payment for hybrid power projects on three Sri Lankan islands, funded by a $11 million Indian grant, aimed at addressing energy needs in Delft, Nainativu, and Analaitivu islands.
  • The projects replace a previously suspended Chinese venture and are expected to be completed by April 2025.
  • These islands, near Tamil Nadu, are not connected to Sri Lanka's national grid.


MoRTH launched Vehicle Scrapping Policy to phase out polluting vehicle.

  • The Ministry of Road Transport has introduced the Voluntary Vehicle Modernization Program to phase out old, polluting vehicles and replace them with newer models.
  • The policy will be executed through Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facilities & Automated Testing Stations, with discounts offered by manufacturers for scrapping old vehicles.
  • Over 60 RVSFs and 75 ATSs are operational across India.


PM launched Vadhvan Port: India’s Largest Deep-Water Port.

  • Vadhvan Port, with an investment of ₹76,220 crore, will become India's largest deep-water port.
  • Scheduled to be operational by 2030, the port will feature nine 1,000-meter-long container terminals and a variety of specialized berths.
