Telangana Launches "Darshini" Scheme for Educational Student Tours.

• Led by the Tourism and Culture Department, it aims to expose students to Telangana’s cultural heritage, historical sites, and scientific institutions.
• The program targets students from Class 2 to the university level, with age-appropriate trips ranging from one-day local tours for younger students to four-day trips for university students.
• The government has allocated ₹12.10 crore.

THDC India Limited Honored at UP International Trade Show 2024.

• THDC India Limited (THDCIL) received the Best Display award for showcasing cutting-edge power solutions at the UP International Trade Show 2024 in Greater Noida.
• The award was presented by Union Minister Shandilya Giriraj Singh and was a recognition of THDCIL’s commitment to sustainability and energy security.

SpaceX Launches Mission to Retrieve Stranded NASA Astronauts.

• A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launched on September 28, 2024, carrying NASA astronaut Nick Hague and Russian cosmonaut Alexander Gorbunov to the ISS.
• The mission aims to return astronauts Butch Wilmore and Sunita Williams, who were stranded due to issues with Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft.
• Crew-9 will also conduct 200 scientific experiments during their five-month stay on the ISS.

BCCI inaugurates National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.

• The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) inaugurated the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, now called the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE).
• The facility spans 40 acres with three world-class grounds and 86 pitches, including 45 outdoor nets and 8 premium indoor pitches sourced from the UK and Australia.

New Catfish Species Exostoma sentiyonoae Discovered in Nagaland.

• A new species of catfish, Exostoma Sentiyonoae, was discovered in the Dzuleke River of Nagaland, part of the Barak River system.
• The discovery was published in Zootaxa by Bungdon Shangningam (Zoological Survey of India) and Limatemjen (Kohima Science College).
• The newly found fish is cataloged as holotype ZSI FF 9871 and measures 75.8 mm in length.
