Nihon Hidankyo Wins 2024 Nobel Peace Prize for Anti-Nuclear Efforts.

• Nihon Hidankyo, a Japanese organization for atomic bomb survivors, won the Nobel Peace Prize for advocating a world free of nuclear weapons.
• The organization represents Hiroshima and Nagasaki survivors, known as hibakusha, sharing personal stories to promote nuclear disarmament.
• Hibakusha's efforts contributed to shaping the "nuclear taboo" against using nuclear weapons.

South Korean Author Han Kang awarded 2024 Nobel Prize in Literature.

• Han Kang won the 2024 Nobel Prize in Literature for her poetic prose addressing historical traumas.
• She is the first South Korean author to receive this prestigious award.
• Han Kang is best known for her novel The Vegetarian, written in three parts.
• Her literary career began in 1993 with poetry, followed by her prose debut in 1995 with Love of Yeosu.

Indian Navy to Host Swavlamban 2024 for Innovation and Indigenisation.

• Swavlamban 2024, the 3rd edition of the Naval Innovation and Indigenisation Seminar, will be held on 28-29 Oct at Bharat Mandapam.
• The event builds on the success of over 2000 proposals and 155 challenges from Indian MSMEs/Startups under the iDEX Scheme.
• It will feature technologies like air/surface surveillance, autonomous systems, AI, and quantum tech.

NABARD Survey: Monthly Income of Rural Households Rises Over 57%.

• The average monthly income of rural households increased by over 57% from ₹8,059 in 2016-17 to ₹12,698 in 2021-22.
• Monthly expenditure also rose significantly, from over ₹6,600 to over ₹11,200 during the same period.
• Average household savings rose to over ₹13,200, up from around ₹9,100.
• Pension coverage also improved, increasing from nearly 19% to 23.5% of households.
