• Daron Acemoglu, Simon Johnson, and James A. Robinson received the 2024 Nobel Prize in Economics for their research on how institutions shape prosperity.
• Their model explains political institution formation with three key components.
• The Nobel Prize in Economics was first awarded in 1969, in memory of Alfred Nobel, the inventor of dynamite.

Harmanpreet Kaur Sets National Record at IWLF Weightlifting Event.

• Harmanpreet Kaur set a new record in the 76 kg Senior women’s category at the IWLF National Weightlifting Championships, lifting 127 kg in clean & jerk and 223 kg in total.
• In the Junior category, Heena set a record with a 123 kg clean & jerk and a total lift of 211 kg.
• G. Ravishankar set a new Junior national record with a combined lift of 311 kg, surpassing the previous 304 kg record.

SpaceX Launches Starship: Fifth Flight with Novel Booster "Catch".

• SpaceX successfully launched its Starship rocket in its fifth flight from Texas.
• The launch occurred with the rocket standing almost 400 feet tall and the Starship, equipped with 33 methane-fuel engines.
• For the first time, SpaceX's first-stage booster returned to the launch pad, utilizing mechanical arms dubbed chopsticks to catch the descending booster after a seven-minute flight.

Dr. S Jaishankar Launches eMigrate V2.0 Portal and App.

• Dr. S Jaishankar inaugurated the eMigrate V2.0 web portal and mobile app, enhancing safe and legal migration for Indian workers.
• With 2.81 lakh registered foreign employers, the portal aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 10, promoting orderly and responsible migration.
• The new portal will provide social security to migrants and improve passport issuance processes.

Rajkumar Hirani Receives National Kishore Kumar Award in Khandwa.

• Rajkumar Hirani was honored with the National Kishore Kumar Award in Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh, on the 37th death anniversary of Kishore Kumar.
• The award, presented by MP's Cabinet Minister Kunwar Vijay Shah, is given annually by the Directorate of Culture, Madhya Pradesh Government since 1997.
• Hirani paid tribute to Kishore Kumar at his Samadhi before the ceremony, in the singer's birthplace.
