855 million tonnes in FY25: Cargo handled by India’s major ports.

  • India’s major ports have registered remarkable growth in cargo handling in 2024.
  • The country’s ports handled 819 million tonnes of cargo in the financial year 2023-24, which increased to 855 million tonnes in FY 2024-25, marking an annual growth of 4.3 per cent.
  • The increase in traffic was driven by a 10 per cent rise in container throughput and a 13 per cent increase in fertiliser cargo.
