India Elected as President of IIAS for the 2025–2028 Term.
- India has been elected to the Presidency of the International Institute of Administrative Sciences (IIAS) for the 2025–2028 term.
- V. Srinivas, Secretary of the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), will assume the role of President.
- The IIAS is an international organization headquartered in Brussels, focused on public administration and governance.
- This election reflects global recognition of India’s efforts in administrative reforms and modernization.
- It also enhances India’s role and influence in global public administration practices.
India, Vietnam decide to cooperate in media & entertainment sector.
- India and Vietnam have agreed to step up cooperation in the media and entertainment sector.
- India and Vietnam share traditionally close and warm bilateral relations. In 2022, the two countries celebrated the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
- The India-Vietnam bilateral relations were elevated in 2016 to the level of Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Government plans to wind down NPSN centre in India.
- The Government of India, in collaboration with the WHO has proposed a phased winding down of the National Polio Surveillance Network (NPSN), reducing from 280 in 2024-25 to 140 by 2026-27.
- Established in 1997 by WHO in coordination with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, is a nationwide surveillance system.
- It played a pivotal role in India’s declaration as polio-free in 2014.
PM Modi to Inaugurate the World's Tallest Railway Arch Bridge in Jammu & Kashmir.
- The Chenab Bridge is officially recognized as the world’s highest railway arch bridge.
- During his visit, the Prime Minister will also launch development projects worth over ₹46,000 crore in Katra.
- These projects include the inauguration of India’s first cable-stayed rail bridge, the Anji Bridge.
- He will also flag off Vande Bharat trains between Katra and Srinagar.
- Additionally, the foundation stone will be laid for the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence.

Sulphur-cleaning device in coal plants not necessary.
- A high-powered committee of experts has recommended doing away with a decade-long policy of mandating equipment, called Flu Gas Desulphurisation (FGD) units, in all coal-fired thermal power plants (TPP).
- Flue Gas Desulphurisation is a set of technologies used to remove sulphur dioxide (SO₂) from the exhaust flue gases of fossil-fuel power plants—especially coal-based thermal power stations.
