India launches Operation Sindhu to evacuate Indian nationals from Iran.

• India has launched Operation Sindhu to evacuate Indian nationals from Iran in view of the deteriorating situation due to the ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel.
• As a first step, the Indian Embassy in Tehran has evacuated 110 Indian students from northern Iran, assisting them in safely crossing over into Armenia.

Bihar becomes 1st state to adopt e-voting system for urban polls.

• The Bihar State Election Commission has decided to roll out an e-voting system using an Android-based mobile.
• Bihar will be the country’s first state to do so.
• The entire e-voting process will be executed through two mobile apps, namely e-Voting SECBHR, one developed by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) and another by the Bihar State Election Commission.

ECI’s new system will enable electors to get EPICs in a fortnight.

• The Election Commission has decided to fast-track Elector Photo Identity Cards (EPICs) to the electors.
• Now the electors will get EPICs within 15 days of update in the electoral rolls.
• The Commission has introduced a new Standard Operating Procedure enabling the faster delivery of EPICs, including new enrolment of an elector or change in any particulars of an existing elector.

CCI buys 100 lakh bales cotton at minimum support price.

• The Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) has purchased close to 100 lakh bales at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) from farmers in the current cotton season and has sold 35 lakh bales in the market.
• Cotton is a commercial crop in India which contributes about 24% to global cotton production and sustains the livelihoods of millions of farmers and workers.

Prime Minister addresses the G7 Outreach Session.

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi held productive exchanges with G7 leaders on key global challenges during the G-7 Outreach Summit at Kananaskis in Canada.
• This year’s G-7 Outreach Summit, is themed around three core pillars of protecting our communities around the world, building energy security and accelerating the digital transition and securing the partnerships of the future.
