India Slips to Rank 71 on WEF Energy Transition Index 2025.

  • From a rank of 63 in 2024, India has now slipped to rank 71 on the World Economic Forum (WEF)’s Energy Transition Index (ETI), which ranks countries on their progress towards energy transition from fossil fuels to clean energy.
  • China topped the Emerging Asia category.
  • The report that compared the annual progress of 118 countries.


Astronomers locate universe’s "missing" matter.

  • The universe has two kinds of matter. There is invisible dark matter, known only because of its gravitational effects on a grand scale.
  • And there is ordinary matter such as gas, dust, stars, planets and earthly things like cookie dough and canoes.
  • The mechanism used to detect and measure the missing ordinary matter involved phenomena called fast radio bursts, or FRBs.


Chandigarh, Punjab, Delhi toppers in Centre’s PGI 2.0, 2023-24.

  • The Ministry of Education released the latest assessment of the Performance Grading Index (PGI) 2.0 report for 2023-24.
  • The highest scorer was Chandigarh, followed by Punjab, and Delhi.
  • The state that scored the lowest was Meghalaya (417.9).
  • Out of the 36 states and Union Territories, 25 showed an improvement in their scores in the PGI 2.0 report for 2023-24 compared to 2022-23.


Govt to shortly notify rules for mandatory use of Indian Standard Time.

  • The government will mandate the use of IST for all legal, commercial, digital, and administrative activities.
  • The initiative aims to provide highly accurate IST using five Regional Reference Standard Laboratories with atomic clocks and secure protocols like NTP and PTP, promoting digital and administrative efficiency under the One Nation, One Time vision.


Centre Sanctions ₹2,006.40 Crore Aid to Himachal Pradesh for 2023 Disaster Recovery Efforts.

  • The Government of India has approved ₹2,006.40 crore for Himachal Pradesh.
  • The funds will support recovery from the 2023 monsoon disasters—floods, landslides, and cloudbursts.
  • Assistance will be provided under the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF).
  • The approval was given by a high-level committee chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
