India’s First Port-Based Green Hydrogen Project at VOC Port.

• Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated India’s first port-based Green Hydrogen Pilot Project at VOC Port, Tamil Nadu, alongside foundation of a Green Methanol bunkering facility.
• Projects worth over ₹150 crore include solar, wind, multi-cargo berth, road, and maritime heritage museum.
• Sonowal pays obeisance to Freedom Fighter VO Chidambaranar on his 154 Birth Anniversary at Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu.

UIDAI Sees Record 221 Cr Aadhaar Authentications in Aug 2025.

• UIDAI recorded 221 crore Aadhaar authentications in Aug 2025, a 10.3% rise over Aug 2024, reflecting growing digital adoption.
• Face authentication surged to 18.6 crore in Aug 2025, up from 6.04 crore last year; total face transactions now exceed 213 crore.
• Over 150 entities use AI-driven face authentication for secure, convenient service delivery.

DPIIT, ICICI Bank Partner to Boost Startup Ecosystem.

• The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade and ICICI Bank signed an MoU to support DPIIT-recognised startups through a Startup Engagement Programme on the Startup India portal.
• Selected startups will access ICICI Bank’s Mumbai accelerator, mentorship, pilot opportunities, and investor networking.
• It aims to scale product-based startups, driving innovation and business growth.

UPI Daily Limit Raised to ₹10 Lakh for Select Categories.

• NPCI has increased UPI limits effective 15 Sept 2025: capital markets, insurance, govt e-Marketplace now have ₹5 lakh per transaction and ₹10 lakh daily cap.
• The hike applies only to Person to Merchant (P2M) transactions with verified merchants, while Person to Person (P2P) transfers remain capped at ₹1 lakh/day.
• Banks may set stricter internal ceilings as per policy.

SC Takes Up Suo Motu Case on Non-Functional CCTVs in Police Stations.

• SC bench of Justices Vikram Nath & Sandeep Mehta takes suo motu action.
• Triggered by report of 11 custodial deaths in Rajasthan in Jan–Aug 2025.
• Police cite technical faults, storage & legal issues for missing CCTV data.
• Court had mandated CCTV in all police stations to prevent custodial torture.
• SHOs made responsible for CCTV upkeep; states & UTs must ensure compliance.
