Crime in India 2023 Report Shows 7.2% Rise in Cognizable Crimes.
- 62.4 lakh cognizable crimes were recorded in India in 2023, marking a 7.2% increase from 2022, according to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).
- The crime rate per lakh population rose from 422.2 to 448.3.
- Metropolitan cities witnessed a 10.6% increase in crime, with theft being the most common offense.
- Karnataka reported the highest number of cybercrimes (21,889 cases).

- The regulations also cover residence permits for foreign widows and divorcees, as well as business exploration visas.
- Humanitarian residence permits are also being introduced for foreigners from countries facing wars, disasters, or unrest.
CSIR-AMPRI designed & developed SODAR system facility inaugurated.
- On 26th September, CSIR’s Foundation Day, the SODAR (Sound Detection and Ranging) system was inaugurated at the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
- Developed by CSIR–AMPRI, Bhopal, the SODAR system is designed to probe the lower atmosphere for meteorological studies, focusing on thermal structure, turbulence, fog, and pollutant plumes.
RITES Signs MoU With Etihad Rail to Boost Mobility Collaboration.
- RITES Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Etihad Rail to strengthen business collaboration in the mobility sector across the UAE and international markets.
- The agreement was formalized at the Global Rail Transport Infrastructure Exhibition and Conference in Abu Dhabi.
- RITES will collaborate with National Infrastructure Construction Company (NICC) LLC.
