India Launches First Cooperative-Run CBG & Potash Granule Project.

• First-of-its-kind cooperative-run project in Kopargaon, Maharashtra, producing Compressed Biogas (CBG) and potash granules for fertilizers from sugar processing by-products and organic waste.
• Cooperative model ensures local ownership and benefit-sharing for farmers and stakeholders.
• National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) supports the project.

India Receives Third Very Large Gas Carrier, Shivalik.

• Shivalik, India’s third Very Large Gas Carrier (VLGC), was received under the Indian flag.
• Built in South Korea, Shivalik has an 82,000 cubic metre (CBM) capacity and is equipped with advanced safety, temperature control, and operational systems.
• The vessel joins the Shipping Corporation of India Limited’s (SCI) fleet, which already includes VLGCs Sahyadri and Anandamayi.

Indian Railways get ₹24,634 crore boost for expansion.

• The Union Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved four railway projects worth Rs 24,634 crore, which will enhance connectivity across Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Chhattisgarh.
• The projects include the Bhusaval–Wardha 3rd and 4th line, Gondia–Dongargarh 4th line, Vadodara–Ratlam 3rd and 4th line, and Itarsi–Bhopal–Bina 4th line.

UP International Trade Show Swadeshi Mela 2025 to be held in Noida.

• The Swadeshi Mela-2025 will be organized in Noida to promote local entrepreneurship, handicrafts, handlooms, agricultural products, and startup innovations.
• The main objective of the event is to promote the manufacture, sale, and exhibition of indigenous products.
• Swadeshi Mela-2025 is part of Uttar Pradesh's initiative to empower local businesses and encourage self-reliance.

WHO Global Report on Trends in Prevalence of Tobacco Use.

• The WHO Global Report on Trends in Prevalence of Tobacco Use 2000–2024 and projections 2025–2030 presents estimates of tobacco use prevalence among the population aged 15 years and older from 2000–2024, with trends projected to 2030.
• Global decline in tobacco use: Adult tobacco use worldwide dropped from 26.2% (2010) to 19.5% (2024).
