IWAI Hands Over Kalughat Terminal to PPP Operator.

• Inland Waterways Authority of India handed over Kalughat Intermodal Terminal, Bihar to Summit Alliance Port East Gateway Pvt. Ltd. under Public-Private Partnership, with 38.3% revenue share to IWAI.
• Built with World Bank support, the terminal enhances trade, connectivity, and sustainable inland waterway operations under Jal Marg Vikas Project (JMVP).

Google Launches Ironwood TPU to Challenge Nvidia’s AI Dominance.

• Google unveiled its 7th-gen Ironwood TPU, the company’s most powerful AI chip, now widely available to developers to boost its cloud platform adoption.
• Built in-house, Ironwood is optimized for training & deploying large-scale AI models, including chatbots & digital agents.
• Each Ironwood pod links 9,216 TPUs, removing data bottlenecks & enabling scaling of massive machine-learning workloads.

AIIMS Study Flags Severe Shortage of Eye Specialists in India.

• India has only 15 ophthalmologists per million, far below the WHO benchmark, as per a recent AIIMS Delhi study.
• Surveying 7,901 eye care institutes, it found 70.6% privately owned, and an optometrist-to-ophthalmologist ratio of 0.85, below the Vision 2020 target of 3:1.
• States like Bihar, UP, MP, Assam, and West Bengal suffer acute specialist shortages, worsening regional disparity.

EIL, NMDC Energy Partner for Saudi Onshore Projects.

• Engineers India Limited (EIL) signed an MoU with NMDC Energy (UAE) to collaborate on onshore projects in Saudi Arabia covering oil & gas, refineries, petrochemicals, pipelines, storage, and energy transition.
• MoU signed at ADIPEC 2025, Abu Dhabi, with EIL CMD Vartika Shukla and NMDC CEO Ahmed Al Dhaheri in attendance.
• EIL is a Navratna PSU under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas.

CJI BR Gavai Rebukes Govt Over Repeated Adjournment Pleas.

• CJI BR Gavai criticized the Attorney General’s repeated adjournment requests in the Tribunal Reforms Act, 2021 case, calling them very unfair to the court.
• He questioned if delays were meant to push the case beyond his retirement, noting the court had already granted 2 adjournments.
• Gavai stressed that repeated pleas waste judicial time, undermine court efficiency, delay justice delivery.
