Punjab Declares Three Takht Towns as Holy Cities With New Restrictions.

• The Punjab government has decided to grant holy city status to three towns that host three of the five Takhts: Amritsar walled city, Talwandi Sabo (Bathinda), and Sri Anandpur Sahib (Ropar).
• In these newly designated holy cities, the sale and use of meat, liquor, tobacco, and intoxicants will be prohibited, fulfilling a long-standing demand of devotees.

Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025 Set for 18th Edition in India.

• India’s premier men’s T20 domestic tournament, the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, began in 2007, and the 2025 season marks its 18th edition.
• A total of 38 teams will participate: 32 in the Elite competition and 6 in the Plate group.

Supreme Court Panel Flags Massive Custodial Death Probe Delays.

• A Supreme Court panel has released a comprehensive report on prison reforms, revealing deep systemic gaps in the investigation of custodial deaths.
• According to the National Human Rights Commission, there were 11,650 deaths in custody in India between 2016 and 2022.
