  • A one-day IndiaAI–Digital India Workshop on Artificial Intelligence was held at Chintan Bhawan, Gangtok.
  • It was organised by Sikkim’s IT Department with NeGD under MeitY as a pre-event to the IndiaAI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi.

India’s 1st LNG–diesel dual-fuel DEMU launched.

  • Indian Railways operationalised India’s first LNG–diesel dual-fuel DEMU train at Sabarmati, Ahmedabad, marking a push for greener rail transport.
  • 1,400 HP DEMU power cars were converted to use LNG, replacing about 40% of diesel after successful 2,000-km field trials.
  • The system cuts CO₂ and NOx emissions, improves air quality and delivers economic benefits in regular passenger service.

  • Patna Bird Sanctuary (UP) and Chhari-Dhand (Gujarat) were designated Ramsar sites.
  • Patna Bird Sanctuary, UP’s smallest, hosts over 300 bird species and serves as a key winter refuge for tens of thousands of migratory birds.
  • Chhari-Dhand in Kutch, Gujarat’s fifth Ramsar site, supports rich wetland biodiversity, including large migratory bird populations and desert wildlife.


Nagaland launches digitisation of birth, death records.

  • Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio launched digitisation of old manual birth and death certificates in Nagaland to modernise civil registration.
  • The move aims to improve data accuracy, citizen access, service delivery and support evidence-based public policy decisions.
  • Aligned with RGI guidelines, Nagaland is shifting to 100% online registration, discontinuing manual certificates.


SAIL launches "सेल-e-BRATION" creative challenge.

  • SAIL, with MyGov, launched the nationwide सेल-e-BRATION: Steel Built India, SAIL Built Trust campaign on January 30, 2026.
