US Congress Approves $200M for Baltic States’ Security Amid Tensions.

• US Congress passed $200M in Baltic Security Initiative funds for Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania as part of the FY2026 Defense Appropriations Act.
• The $838.7B defense package also allocates $10M to Estonia for military equipment via Foreign Military Financing.
• The initiative signals sustained US support for the Baltics amid increased Russian activity along NATO’s eastern flank.

Indian Scientists Create Eco-Friendly, Self-Powered Photodetector.

• The International Advanced Research Centre for Powder Metallurgy and New Materials (ARCI), Hyderabad with IIT Hyderabad researchers have developed a stable, lead-free, self-powered photodetector.
• These findings were published in journal Solar Energy (Elsevier).
• Addresses health & durability issues of traditional lead-based photodetectors, paving the way for safer, smarter tech solutions.

India to Host Asian Shooting Championships 2027.

• The Asian Rifle/Pistol Championships 2027 will be held in New Delhi (Dec 1–10) and offer 8 quota places for LA 2028 Olympics.
• New Delhi will also host the ISSF World Cup in April 2027, with 12 additional Olympic quota places on offer.
• The qualification window for LA 2028 runs from July 2026 to May 2028, with India aiming to build on three-medal success from Paris 2024.

NTPC Targets 30GW Nuclear Capacity by 2047, Sets Up New Subsidiaries.

• NTPC plans to add 30GW nuclear capacity by 2047, as part of India's 100GW nuclear power ambition.
• Key initiatives: JV ASHVINI (NTPC + NPCIL) developing Mahi Banswara Rajasthan Atomic Power Project (4×700MW).
• Creation of NTPC Parmanu Urja Nigam Limited (NPUNL).
