BRO Carries Out High‑Altitude Operation at Chatergala Pass.

• The 118 Road Construction Company of 35 BRTF (Project Sampark) carried out a 40‑hour snow‑clearance & rescue mission at 10,500 ft Chatergala Pass in J&K.
• BRO teams cleared 38 km of road covered with 5–6 ft of snow, restoring connectivity on the Bhaderwah‑Chatergala axis.
• Operation evacuated 40 soldiers & 20 civilians safely with zero casualties, reflecting BRO‑Army coordination.

Indian Navy’s 1st Training Squadron Makes Port Call at Phuket.

• The Indian Navy’s First Training Squadron- INS Tir, Shardul, Sujata & ICGS Sarathi arrived at Phuket Deep Sea Port, Thailand.
• This marks the ASEAN‑India Year of Maritime Cooperation and strengthens bilateral naval ties under India’s MAHASAGAR vision.
• Activities include professional exchanges, PASSEX, sports and yoga sessions with Royal Thai Navy as India set to assume IONS Chair in Feb 2026.

Manipuri Film "Boong" Earns BAFTA 2026 Nomination for Children’s Film.

• Boong, directed by Lakshmipriya Devi & backed by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, is nominated for Best Children’s & Family Film at BAFTA 2026.
• British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA) winners will be announced on Feb 22.
• It is an annual film award show hosted by British Academy of Film & Television Arts to honour the best British and international film contribution.

Ministry of Jal Shakti Honors WaSH Warriors at Samvad Samaroh.

• The Ministry of Jal Shakti hosted a Samvad Samaroh in New Delhi to honour WaSH Warriors who led community‑driven water & sanitation initiatives.
• 58 awardees from States/UTs under Jal Jeevan Mission were recognised for championing inclusive WaSH efforts in rural India.
• Drawn from Swachh Sujal Gaon villages, the honourees also attended the Republic Day Parade as Special Guests on 26 Jan 2026.

Sonowal Inaugurates Expansion of Vizhinjam International Seaport.

• Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal launched capacity augmentation works for Phases II–IV of Vizhinjam International Seaport in Thiruvananthapuram.
• The ₹7,398 crore expansion will extend the container berth to 2 km, boost port capacity to 5.7 million TEUs & enable India to handle next‑gen 28,000 TEU vessels.
• Aims to reduce dependence on foreign transshipment hubs & boost trade infrastructure.
