New Mushroom Species "Hemileccinum indicum" Discovered in Himalayas.

• Scientists from India and Italy discovered Hemileccinum indicum, a new pitted-spore mushroom, in Uttarakhand’s Bageshwar oak forests—first official record of its group in India.
• The discovery was made at over 2,600m altitude, confirmed by genetic sequencing and electron microscopy.
• The research expands India’s known fungal diversity and was published in the Nordic Journal of Botany.

New Aadhaar App Launched, Bringing Secure & Versatile Digital ID.

• The new Aadhaar App, launched by UIDAI, enables Aadhaar holders to securely verify & share their digital identity with privacy-first features.
• Enables selective data sharing and supports uses like hotel check‑ins, hospital admissions & gig worker verification.
• Features are face verification, biometric lock/unlock, QR‑based contact cards under One Family One App.
• Its mascot is Udai.

Govt Approves ₹199 Cr Smart Fishing Harbour at Mayabunder, Andamans.

• The Department of Fisheries approved a ₹199.24 crore project to develop a Smart and Integrated Fishing Harbour at Mayabunder under PMMSY with 100% Central funding.
• Modelled on Blue Port Initiative, it will feature IoT‑enabled operations, energy efficiency & digital traceability.
• It will serve 430 vessels, handle 9,900 tonnes of fish annually & create jobs across the fisheries value chain.

Railways Approve ₹426 Cr 4th Line on Baikunth–Urkura Section.

• Ministry of Railways has sanctioned a 4th line between Baikunth and Urkura (26.4 km) at ₹426.01 crore on Bilaspur–Raipur–Nagpur main line.
• Aim to reduce delays for passengers, & enable extra freight, a capacity increase of 14.25 MTPA, with projected ₹61.7 crore in annual earnings.
• Supports regional industrial growth & is part of the Energy, Cement & Mineral Corridor infrastructure focus.
