N. Chandrababu Naidu Announces ₹25,000 Incentive for 2nd & 3rd Child in Andhra Pradesh.

N. Chandrababu Naidu, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, announced a new population management policy in the state assembly.
The policy aims to increase birth rates and address the declining Total Fertility Rate (TFR).
₹25,000 cash incentive will be given at the time of delivery for the 2nd and 3rd child.
Families will also receive additional monthly support and long-term benefits.
Demographic Concern:

TFR in Andhra Pradesh has fallen from 3.0 (1993) to 1.5 currently.
This is below the replacement level of 2.1 required to maintain a stable population.

A 59-year-old woman, Depali Das, from Cachar district in Assam became the first declared foreigner in India to receive citizenship under the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
She was declared an illegal immigrant by a Foreigners’ Tribunal in February 2019.
Detained at Silchar detention centre from May 10, 2019 to May 17, 2021, and later released following orders from the Supreme Court of India.
Applied for citizenship under the Citizenship Amendment Act in February 2025.
Citizenship granted retrospectively from February 7, 1988, when she entered India from Bangladesh with her husband due to religious persecution.

The Kerala Health Department launched the MeHEALTH mobile app to help citizens easily access government healthcare services.
The app acts as a digital directory and booking platform for government health facilities.
Nearby Hospital Locator: Shows all government health facilities within a 10 km radius of the user.
Online Doctor Appointments: Users can book appointments with government doctors directly through the app.
Real-time Updated Data: Information is sourced from official health department databases and updated regularly.
The app aims to simplify access to healthcare and reduce the need for physical visits or phone inquiries.

Krishnamurthy V. Subramanian, Indian economist, has received the University of Chicago Alumni Award for Professional Achievement.
