- N. Chandrababu Naidu, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, announced a new population management policy in the state assembly.

- TFR in Andhra Pradesh has fallen from 3.0 (1993) to 1.5 currently.

- A 59-year-old woman, Depali Das, from Cachar district in Assam became the first declared foreigner in India to receive citizenship under the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
- She was declared an illegal immigrant by a Foreigners’ Tribunal in February 2019.
- Detained at Silchar detention centre from May 10, 2019 to May 17, 2021, and later released following orders from the Supreme Court of India.
- Applied for citizenship under the Citizenship Amendment Act in February 2025.
- Citizenship granted retrospectively from February 7, 1988, when she entered India from Bangladesh with her husband due to religious persecution.
