$500 Million Social Term Loan Initiative Announced by State Bank of India to Empower Women.

• State Bank of India (SBI) launched a $500 million syndicated social term loan facility.
• The loan is aimed at financing initiatives that promote women’s empowerment.
• It includes a greenshoe option, allowing oversubscription up to a specified limit.
• The deal is one of the largest social loans raised by an Indian public sector bank in the global ESG financing space.

Historic High-Altitude Record of Sambar Deer Noted in Himachal Pradesh.

• The Himachal Pradesh Forest Department Wildlife Wing recorded **Sambar Deer (Rusa unicolor) at unusually high altitudes in Chamba district using camera traps.
• The species was spotted in Kalatop–Khajjiar Wildlife Sanctuary (>2,500 m) and Gamgul Wildlife Sanctuary (>3,000 m).
• Sambar deer are normally found in lower Shivalik hills and forests below ~2,000 m.
• The finding was published in the February 2026 edition of Records of the Zoological Survey of India.
• The discovery suggests possible shifts in wildlife movement due to climate change, habitat changes, or improved protection in higher forests.
