• Union Minister Nitin Gadkari launched India’s 1st Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) barrier-less tolling system in Gujarat.
• Implemented at Chorayasi Toll Plaza on NH-48 (Surat–Bharuch stretch).
• Comes under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH).
• Uses ANPR cameras and integrates with FASTag for automatic toll deduction.
• Enables non-stop vehicle movement without stopping at toll booths.
• Benefits include reduced travel time, congestion, fuel consumption, and emissions.

Meghalaya Initiates Self-Enumeration Drive for Census 2027.

• Meghalaya launched a state-wide awareness drive on May 02, 2026 for Census 2027 self-enumeration portal.
• Initiative coordinated with the Ministry of Home Affairs to promote digital census participation.
• Aims to support citizens in using the digital self-enumeration system.
• Field enumerators deployed to assist households without internet access.
• Data will be directly integrated into the central census database.
• Monitored by a state-level steering committee and planning commission for accurate demographic tracking.

India’s 1st Gig Worker Complaint Redressal Platform Launched in Karnataka.

• Karnataka launched India’s first digital grievance redressal system for gig workers on May 02, 2026.
• Implemented by the Karnataka Platform-based Gig Workers’ Board with the Department of e-Governance.
• Complaints filed through the Integrated Public Grievance Redressal System (IPGRS).
• Covers issues related to payouts, working conditions, and platform disputes.
• Grievances forwarded to Internal Dispute Resolution Committees (IDRCs) of aggregator platforms (mandatory setup).
• Platforms like Namma Yatri and Yulu integrated with the grievance system.
• Covers around 12 lakh gig workers in the state.
• Unique ID system under development for better tracking and welfare delivery.

India Extends Medical Support to Jamaica with Aarogya Maitri Health Cube.

• India deployed the Aarogya Maitri portable health infrastructure (BHISHM Cube) in Jamaica for humanitarian and disaster relief support.
• Implemented under India’s HADR (Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief) framework and India–CARICOM cooperation.
• Coordinated by the National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS) and the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
• BHISHM Cube provides rapid medical aid, diagnostics, and emergency stabilization in disaster zones.
• Supported by RailTel Corporation of India for logistics and Green Genome India Pvt Ltd for field operations.
