• Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare organized Fruit Horizon 2026 at ICAR-Central Institute for Subtropical Horticulture, Lucknow.
• Aim: Strengthen India’s fruit export value chain by focusing on:
• Quality
• Shelf life
• Marketing
• Zero rejection export standards
• A task force will be formed with:
• ICAR institutions
• Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA)
• Exporters and related agencies
• A Clean Plant Centre will be established for disease-free planting material of mango, guava, litchi, and avocado.
• National Horticulture Board is developing export clusters and post-harvest infrastructure near Noida International Airport.

International Food Prices Hit Highest Level in Three Years.

• Food and Agriculture Organization said global food prices reached a 3-year high in April.
• Food Price Index rose to 130.7 points, up 1.6% from March.
• Increase driven mainly by:
• Rising energy costs
• Regional conflicts
• Vegetable oil and meat prices increased, while sugar prices declined.
• Global cereal production for 2025 is projected at a record 3.040 billion metric tons.
