• O.P. Jindal Global University became India’s 1st Institution of Eminence to receive accreditation from the Data Science Council of America.
• Accreditation awarded under the World Data Science & AI Initiative (WDSAI).
• Certification valid till 2031 for residential, non-residential, and online programmes.
• Seven AI and Data Science courses accredited, including M.Sc. AI & Data Science and MBA in Business Analytics.
• JGU is located in Sonipat, Haryana, and recognized as an Institution of Eminence by the Government of India.

Supreme Court of India Suggests Creation of Women’s Vice President Post from 2027 Onward.

• Supreme Court of India urged the Supreme Court Bar Association to create a permanent Vice-President post reserved for women from 2027-28.
• Secretary post to remain reserved for women in the 2026-27 SCBA elections.
• Supreme Court earlier mandated:
• 33% reservation for women in bar associations.
• 30% reservation for women in bar councils.
• Aim: Increase women’s representation in legal institutions and pave the way for the first woman SCBA President.

India Launches QR-Based Verification for Census 2027 Field Enumerators.

• India launched a QR-code verification system for nearly 30 lakh census enumerators.
• Residents can verify officials by scanning QR codes on enumerator ID cards.
• First phase of Census 2027 runs from 1 April to 30 September 2026.
• Digital system includes mobile apps and a centralized data management platform.
• Ensures secure identification of field staff in residential and gated communities.
• Self-enumeration portal allows citizens to submit data online using unique IDs (piloted in Noida and Ghaziabad).

1st-ever Regional Cooperative Reform Conference held in Aizawl, Mizoram, under "Sahkar se Samriddhi".

• Ministry of Cooperation organized the Regional Conference on Cooperative Reforms in Aizawl under the Sahkar se Samriddhi vision.
• Aim: Strengthen cooperative institutions, especially in the North-East region.
• Key Focus Areas:
• Improve market linkages for horticulture, fisheries, and forest produce.
• Implement the World’s Largest Grain Storage Plan at the grassroots level.
• Promote Bharat Organics to expand domestic and global market access for farmers.
• Earlier edition of the regional conference was held in Jaipur.

Odisha ranks as the leading state in India for housing completions under PMAY-U 2.0.

• Odisha ranked No. 1 in India for house completions under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana–Urban (PMAY-U 2.0).
• Maintained top position from March 2025 to March 2026.
• PMAY-U 2.0 launched in September 2024.
• Odisha stats:
• 24,625 houses sanctioned
• 23,464 sites geo-tagged
• 2,008 houses completed (as of May 5, 2026)
• 3,134 units under active construction
• Implemented by the Housing and Urban Development Department in coordination with Urban Local Bodies (ULBs).
