Dubai Receives 1st APEDA Export of GI-Tagged Tezpur Litchi.

APEDA facilitated the 1st export of GI-tagged Tezpur Litchi from Assam to Dubai on June 7, 2026.
The export was organized by APEDA under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry.
Tezpur is known for litchi varieties such as Bombaya, Bilati, Elaichi, Piyaji, and Sahi.
Farmers received nearly 10% higher prices compared to domestic market rates.
The initiative aims to promote agricultural exports and integrate North East farmers into global value chains.

Union Minister Annapurna Devi marked the 10th anniversary of the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA) on June 9, 2026.
The Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan was launched in 2016 by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
The scheme aims to ensure safe pregnancy by providing free, quality antenatal care and expert medical consultations.
Under the scheme, free health check-ups are provided on the 9th of every month for pregnant women in their second and third trimesters.
The initiative has improved access to maternal healthcare, benefited lakhs of women, and contributed to reducing maternal mortality.

Ministry of Coal announced the establishment of Coal Exchanges in India on June 9, 2026.
Coal Exchanges will be set up under the MMDR (Amendment) Act, 2025.
The Coal Exchange Rules, 2026 provide the regulatory framework.
Coal Controller Organisation (CCO) is the nodal authority for registration and regulation.
Operating licences will be valid for 25 years.
Aim is to enable transparent, market-based coal trading and better price discovery.
It will expand market access for miners, including public sector coal companies.
CCO is a subordinate office of the Ministry of Coal, headquartered in Kolkata.

Ministry of Defence approved a 250 MW solar power project on vacant defence land in Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh.
The project will be developed by NTPC Limited through competitive bidding.
It will cover around 850 acres of land and include a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS).
It is the first large-scale renewable energy project with BESS on defence land.
Implementation will be coordinated by MoD (Army) and DG Defence Estates (DGDE).
The project aims to improve energy security for defence establishments and reduce power costs.

UP CM Yogi Adityanath and Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh inaugurated the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Lucknow on June 8, 2026.
The RMC will improve weather services for Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and nearby regions.
Under Mission Mausam, India plans to expand Doppler Weather Radars to 100 from the current 50.
UP’s weather infrastructure has been strengthened with more radars, AWS, ARG, and lightning sensors.
The initiative aims to enhance accurate and impact-based weather forecasting by IMD.
