• India secured Joint 1st Rank at the 56th International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) 2026.
• Won 5 Gold Medals (all five Indian participants).
• Shared the top position with China, Kazakhstan, Russia, South Korea, and Taiwan.
• 381 students from 87 countries participated.
• Maintained a 10-year streak of every Indian participant winning a Gold or Silver medal.

Ahmedabad Enters Guinness World Records with 3.61 Lakh Miyawaki Saplings.

• Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation set a Guinness World Record by planting 3.61 lakh saplings in one hour.
• The plantation drive used the Miyawaki method with 35 indigenous tree species.
• Over 25,000 volunteers participated in the campaign.
• Conducted under Mission 5 Million Trees in Ahmedabad.

ICAI Hosts 1st-Ever Global Orbit Summit for India’s GCC Ecosystem.

• ICAI launched the first Global Orbit Summit 2026 in New Delhi.
• The summit aims to strengthen India’s Global Capability Centre (GCC) ecosystem.
• Theme: ICAI Global Orbit: From GCCs to Global Leadership.
• India has over 2,100 GCCs, employing around 2.36 million professionals and generating nearly USD 100 billion in annual revenue.
• The summit focused on AI & Automation, Cyber Security, Emerging Technologies, and GCC Strategy.

BIS to Introduce India’s 1st Standards for Mangrove Restoration.

• Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) finalized the draft of India’s first national guidelines for mangrove ecosystem restoration.
• The guidelines aim to standardize mangrove restoration across India’s coastal regions.
• They promote eco-friendly plantation practices, including the use of biodegradable bags instead of polythene.
• The guidelines also support local livelihoods through fruit-bearing trees and propose carbon credits to improve economic viability.
• The standards are currently voluntary, with efforts underway to make them mandatory.

Submer Group Announces $2 Billion Investment in MP Semiconductor Projects.

• Spain’s Submer Group announced a $2 billion investment in Madhya Pradesh’s semiconductor and data centre sector.
• The project is expected to create around 5,000 direct jobs.
• 15 acres of land allotted for a data centre project in Acharpura industrial area, Madhya Pradesh.
• The initiative aims to develop Global Capability Centres (GCCs) and strengthen the state’s technology infrastructure.
