Global Peace Index 2026: Iceland Tops, India Ranks 127th.

The Global Peace Index (GPI) 2026, published by the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP), ranked Iceland as the world's most peaceful country and India at 127th out of 163 countries.
Iceland retained the top rank for the 19th consecutive year; Russia ranked 163rd (least peaceful).
Bhutan was the highest-ranked country in South Asia, placing 16th globally.
The report noted that global peace declined for the 12th consecutive year, with 61 active state-based conflicts worldwide.
The GPI assesses countries across 23 indicators under three domains: Societal Safety and Security, Ongoing Conflict, and Militarization.

SpaceX achieved a market valuation of over $2 trillion, with shares closing above $160 on debut.
Musk's estimated net worth reached about $1.05 trillion, driven mainly by his SpaceX and Tesla holdings.
He became the first person in history to cross the $1 trillion personal wealth milestone.
SpaceX was founded in 2002 and is headquartered in Hawthorne, California.

India led the world in digital wallet app downloads in 2025, recording over 440 million installs (about 25% of global downloads).
PhonePe was the most downloaded digital wallet app globally in 2025.
Google Pay and PhonePe together accounted for over 80% of UPI transactions in India.
UPI processed 228.5 billion transactions worth ₹299.7 trillion in 2025.
UPI, operated by NPCI, was launched in 2016 for instant real-time bank-to-bank payments.

India Post launched its first drone-based mail and parcel delivery service in Himachal Pradesh between Mandi and Rehardhar.
The drone service reduced delivery time from over 2 hours to just 7 minutes across a 12 km mountainous route.
The initiative aims to improve connectivity in remote and difficult terrains with faster and eco-friendly delivery.
Expansion is planned across 150 routes, with priority in Himachal Pradesh and Assam.
The project is under the Union Ministry of Communications, led by Jyotiraditya M. Scindia.

PM Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron jointly inaugurated Bharat Innovates in Nice under the India–France Year of Innovation.
The event aims to connect Indian startups with global investors and the higher education ecosystem.
PM Modi attended the G7 Summit in France, marking India's 8th consecutive invitation to the summit.
He also made the first-ever visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Slovakia since its independence in 1993.
