Assam’s Rangpur-Sivasagar Included in UNESCO’s Tentative List.

UNESCO Tentative List: Rangpur-Sivasagar Historic Ensemble added on 19 June 2026.
Significance: Served as the political and ceremonial centre of the Ahom Kingdom.
UNESCO Criteria: Nominated under Criteria (iii) and (iv).
Key Structures: Includes Rang Ghar and Talatal Ghar.
Water Heritage: Features the historic Joysagar, Gaurisagar and Sivasagar tanks.
Other Remains: Ancient temples, roads and bridges from the Ahom era.
Historical Role: Capital and strategic hub of the Ahom dynasty for nearly six centuries.
UNESCO Link: Complements the Charaideo Moidams, inscribed on the World Heritage List in 2024.

FDA Approval: US FDA granted accelerated approval to AstraZeneca’s Etcamah (camizestrant) on 5 September 2026.
Use: Treats advanced or metastatic breast cancer in adults with ESR1 mutations.
Drug Type: Oral selective estrogen receptor degrader (SERD) and ER antagonist.
Clinical Benefit: SERENA-6 trial showed a 56% reduction in the risk of disease progression or death.
Dosage: 75 mg orally once daily, alongside a CDK4/6 inhibitor.
