1. Denmark to create world's first energy island in the North Sea

  • Denmark approved a plan on Thursday to build the world's first energy island in the  North Sea that will produce and store enough green energy to cover the electricity needs of 3 million European households.
  • The artificial island, which in its initial phase will be the size of 18 football fields, will be linked to hundreds of offshore wind turbines and will supply both power to households and green hydrogen for use in shipping, aviation, industry and heavy transport.
  • The energy island, which will cost around 210 billion Danish crowns ($33.9 billion) to build, is an important part of Denmark's legally binding target to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 70% by 2030 from 1990 levels, one of the world's most ambitious.

2. Centre, Uttarakhand govt sign MoU on 173 cr science city project in Dehradun

  • The MoU was signed between Uttarakhand State Council for Science & Technology (UCOST) and National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), an autonomous organisation under the Indian Ministry of Culture.
  • The project will take four years to complete. The Centre will provide 88 crore while the state government will contribute 85 crore for the ambitious project

3. HAL to develop high-altitude satellite that can fly unmanned for 3 months

  • Satellite will be solar energised and will become a big asset flying around 70,000-feet for 2-3 months unmanned and taking information
  • The technology is named Combined Air Teaming System (CATS). It will have a mother ship and four autonomous unmanned aerial vehicles known as CATS Warrior. The vehicles will have the capacity to carry out a strike. It will be able to stealthily enter 700 kilometres inside enemy territory.
