1. World's first ship tunnel to be constructed in Norway

  • The Stad Ship Tunnel is planned to run underneath the mountains in Norway's Stadhavet peninsula.
  • It is expected to measure 1,700 metres long, 37 metes high and 26.5 metres wide after completion.
  • Norway is expected to spend over $315 million in building the ship tunnel.



2. Rajasthan govt to roll out health insurance coverage scheme on May 1.

  • Under the scheme, every family will get an insurance cover of Rs five lakh by paying Rs 850 annually.
  • Going to implement the universal health coverage scheme from May 1 and registration will start from April 1.



3. Indian-American Dr Vivek Murthy sworn in as US Surgeon General.

  • He has occupied the position of America's Surgeon General for the second time
  • In 2011, president Barack Obama tapped him to serve on the advisory group on prevention, health promotion, and integrative and public health.



4. Japan to provide loans and grant of 233 billion yen for infra projects in India

  • USD 2.11 billion for several key infrastructure projects, including for the fourth phase of the Delhi Metro.
  • 4.01 billion yen for a project for the improvement of power supply in strategically located Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
  • The loans included 52.03 billion yen for the phase two of the Bengaluru Metro Rail project.
  • 119.97 billion yen for the phase four of the Delhi Metro.
  • 11.30 billion yen for phase two of Himachal Pradesh crop diversification promotion project.



5. New Zealand becomes one of the first countries to legalize paid leave for miscarriages

  • It would offer three days of bereavement leave from work to mothers and their partners if they go through a miscarriage
  • The only other country with legislation of this kind is India, where women are entitled to six weeks of paid leave if they miscarry.
