IIT-Madras has developed an AI algorithm to find cancer-causing mutations.

  • The algorithm uses a relatively unexplored technique of leveraging DNA structure to pinpoint genetic changes responsible for cancer progression.

  • While Cell mutation is a common phenomenon, with only a few mutations causing cancer. They are called driver mutations.

Two Indian organizations won the UNDP Equator Prize 2021.
