The Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment has launched an online portal named TAPAS (Training for Augmenting Productivity and Services).
- Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Dr Virendra Kumar launched an online portal TAPAS.
- The portal has been developed by the National Institute of Social Security to provide access to lectures by subject experts, study materials and more, but in a way that complements the physical classroom without compromising on teaching quality.
- The five core courses are on a broad curriculum on drug (substance) abuse prevention, geriatric/elderly care, dementia care and management, transgender issues and social security issues.
India's 1st cattle genomic chip IndiGau has been launched.
- India's 1st cattle genomic chip IndiGau was launched to conserve pure varieties of indigenous cattle breeds like Gir, Kankrej, Sahiwal, Ongole etc.
- This indigenous chip has been developed with the combined efforts of scientists from National Institute of Animal Biotechnology (NAIB), Hyderabad, an autonomous institute under the aegis of Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology.
- IndiGau is purely indigenous and the largest cattle chip in the world.
- It has 11,496 markers (SNPs), more than that placed on 777K Illumina chip of US and UK breeds.
The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) launched "Son Chiriya" for marketing the products of Self Help Groups.
- Son Chiriya - (a brand and logo) - for marketing of Urban Self Help Group (SHG) products
- This program helps women from urban poor families to join self-help groups and their associations to create a support system for them.
- More than 5.7 lakh SHGs have been formed in various states/UTs with around 60 lakh members.
- SHGs who are engaged in livelihood activities, produce goods like handicrafts, textiles, toys etc., will now be able to sell these products on online shopping websites like Flipkart and Amazon.
RBI imposed a penalty of ₹1 crore on co-operative Rabobank UA.
- Monetary penalty has been imposed for contravention of certain provisions of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949 and directions relating to 'Transfer of Reserve Funds'.
