NPCI partnered with Yes Bank to launch a contactless solution "RuPay On-the-Go".

  • National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has partnered with private sector lender Yes Bank to launch a 1st of its kind RuPay on-the-go contactless payment solution.
  • RuPay On-the-Go contactless solution primarily a wearable payment solution, has been launched to enable customers to make small and large value transactions from everyday wear accessories.
  • The solution will eliminate the need to carry a physical card, and customers can use the solution at RuPay contactless-enabled PoS at retail outlets and make payments up to Rs 5,000 without the need for a PIN.
  • The solution is based on a simple Tap, Pay, Go mechanism.
  • It has been launched in collaboration with Fintech Infrastructure Partner NeoCred and Manufacturing Partner Seshasai.



Yemeni Humanitarian Organization won the Nansen Refugee Award 2021.

  • A humanitarian organization from Yemen has been declared the winner of the 2021 UNHCR Nansen Refugee Award.
  • The organisation named Jeel Albena Association for Humanitarian Development, founded in 2017 by Ameen Jubran has won the prestigious honour to support and provide a lifeline to tens of thousands of Yemenis people displaced by the country’s conflict.
  • The UNHCR Nansen Refugee Award honors individuals, groups or organizations for going above and beyond the call of duty to protect refugees, other displaced and stateless people.



Nirmala Sitharaman will be the chief guest at the Global Fintech Fest 2021.

  • Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs is the Chief Guest at the Global Fintech Fest (GFF) 2021.
  • The festival is being hosted virtually from 28- 30 September 2021. The theme of the event is Fintech: Empowering a Global Digital Economy.
  • The Global Fintech Fest (GFF) is organized by Payments Council of India (PCI), Fintech Convergence Council (FCC) and Internet and Mobile Association of India (AIMAI).



North Korea tests hypersonic missile "Hwasong-8".

  • North Korea successfully test-fired a new hypersonic missile named Hwasong-8 on September 28, 2021 to enhance the nation's capabilities for self-defense.
  • The missile was one of the five most important new weapons systems set by North Korea in its five-year military development plan.
  • This was the country's 3rd missile test in a month. Earlier it tested a new type of cruise missile, as well as a new train-launched ballistic missile system.



Union Minister Jitendra Singh launched "Amrit Grand Challenge Program-Janacare" to identify 75 innovations by start-ups and entrepreneurs.

  • As a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh (Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) of Science and Technology) launched the AMRUT Grand Challenge Programme titled Janacare on September 28, 2021.
  • The Grand Challenge aims to identify 75 Start-Up and entrepreneurs, who come out with Innovative Ideas and Solutions for India’s healthcare challenges, that can work in Low Resource Settings, for strengthening the Healthcare Delivery in India.
  • The challenge has been jointly launched by Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC), NASSCOM and NASSCOM Foundation as a nationwide Discover - Design - Scale programme.
  • The Janacare AMRUT Challenge will recognize start-ups in areas such as innovation in telemedicine, digital health, mhealth with big data, AI, block chain and other technologies.
