India has become the 3rd largest unicorn ecosystem in the world.

• The term unicorn refers to any startup that commands a valuation of $1 billion.
• Hurun Research Institute has released the Hurun India Future Unicorn List 2021,
• According to which India is the 3rd largest unicorn/startup ecosystem in the world.
• America is at the top followed by China at the 2nd place.
• According to the list there are 51 rhinos in India.
• There are 396 unicorns in the United States and 277 in China.

Ministry of Coal has started a pilot project to replace diesel with LNG.

• According to CIL, it has started the process of retrofitting LNG kits in its dumpers, large trucks engaged in transporting coal.
• The move will help CIL save around Rs 500 crore annually.
• This pilot project will also help in reducing its carbon footprint.
• The move is significant as, CIL (the world's largest coal miner) uses more than 4 lakh kiloliters of diesel per year, with an annual expenditure of Rs 3,500 crore.
• Due to LNG, operation of dumpers will be much cheaper and cleaner.
• LNG will replace diesel usage by 30% to 40% and in turn reduce fuel costs by 15%.

Defense Expo 2022 will be held in Gandhinagar from March 11 to 13.

• The 12th edition of DefExpo will be the first ever major defense show in Gujarat.
• The next Defense Expo will be organized by Gujarat in 2022.
• This was announced by Chief Minister Vijay Rupani.
• A MoU has been signed between the Department of Defense Production and the Government of Gujarat in this regard.
• Around 100 countries are expected to participate in this biennial event.
• Defense Expo 2022 aims to move from Make in India to the world.
• Defense Expo-2022 will focus on making India a defense manufacturing hub.

China made small helicopter for surveillance mission on Mars.

• The prototype is similar in appearance to the robotic helicopter Ingenuity, which NASA developed for its Perseverance mission.
• This helicopter has been developed after the historic landing of a robotic rover on Mars.

Ashok Tandon is the chairman of the committee constituted to review the existing guidelines of Journalist Welfare Scheme.

• The government has constituted a 12-member committee to review the existing guidelines for the Journalists Welfare Scheme (JWS).
• The chairman of the committee is Prasar Bharati board member Ashok Tandon.
• The committee will examine the need for revision of the amount of ex-gratia payment in death as well as other cases under JWS.
