  • India has been ranked 46th in the Global Innovation Index 2021 released by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
  • Switzerland tops the ranking.
  • The Global Innovation Index 2021 reflects the innovation ecosystem performance of 132 economies and tracks the latest global innovation trends.
  • India has jumped 2 places from last year's ranking. Under the Lower middle-income category group, India has been ranked at the second spot after Vietnam.



2 Indian projects to get the Earthshot Prize.

  • Two Indian projects have been selected for the environment prize called Earth shot Prize.
  • One of the selected projects is a solar powered ironing cart designed by a 14-year-old Tamil Nadu schoolgirl
  • And the other is an agricultural waste recycling concept developed by a Delhi-based entrepreneur.
  • The prize is conferred annually to five winners for their solutions that substantially help the environment.



Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) has tied up with CESL for charging stations for electric vehicles in Punjab.

  • The collaboration seeks to expand the EV transition portfolio providing accessible and affordable charging infrastructure in the state of Punjab.
  • The MoU was signed by the CEO of PEDA, Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa



HDFC Bank tied up with Paytm to launch co-branded credit cards in October 2021.

  • HDFC Bank has announced its partnership with leading payments company Paytm to offer co-branded credit cards on the Visa platform to merchants, millennials and merchants.
  • HDFC Bank-Paytm co-branded credit cards will be launched in October 2021 during the festive season.
  • The collaboration between HDFC Bank & Paytm is part of the strategies of the HDFC Bank to regain its lost market share in the credit card space due to the ban imposed on it by RBI for eight months as penalty, following several outages in its digital offerings.



R Raja Ritwik became the 70th Chess Grandmaster of India.

  • The 17-year-old R Raja Rithvik from Warangal has become India’s 70th and newest chess Grandmaster (GM).
  • Rithvik achieved his 3rd and final norm at First Saturday Chess Tournaments in Budapest, Hungary, to enter the GM club.
