FIFA unveiled the "Ibha" mascot of India's 2022 Under-17 Women's World Cup.

  • World football body, FIFA has unveiled the official mascot of the Under-17 Women's World Cup India 2022 Ibha, an Asiatic lioness representing the female power.
  • It aims to inspire women and girls around the world to make the right decisions and reach their full potential.
  • The tournament will be the seventh edition of the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup.
  • It will be held in India from October 11-30, 2022.



Delhi government launches "Desh Ke Mentor" program.

  • Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has started a counseling program named Desh Ke Mentor for children studying in class IX to XII of government schools in the state.
  • The Desh ke mentor program requires adoption of one to 10 government school students, who can be mentored by successful citizens in their respective fields.
  • The mentorship programme will be of two to six months.
  • The 1st two months of the programme will be compulsory module and the remaining four will be optional.
  • Mentors will guide every two-five students to help them in their overall personality development by sharing their knowledge, skills and expertise.

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi has addressed the 28th NHRC Foundation Day program through video conferencing on October 12, 2021 in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and NHRC President.
  • The National Human Rights Commission of India (NHRC) is a statutory public body constituted on 12 October 1993 under the Protection of Human Rights Act 1993 for the protection of human rights and the dignity of marginalized people.



Indian shooters win 43 medals in the ISSF Junior World Championship.

  • The 2021 International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Junior World Championships in Rifle/Pistol/Shotgun was held in Lima, Peru.
  • Indian shooters topped the medal tally with 43 medals claiming a historic victory.
  • These include 17 gold, 16 silver and 10 bronze medals.
  • The United States finished second in the medal tally with 21 medals, including six gold, eight silver and six bronze.
  • Meanwhile, Manu Bhaker created a milestone record of becoming the first Indian shooter to win the most medals with five medals in a single edition of the ISSF Junior World Championships.
  • These include 4 gold medals and one bronze.



Former SBI chief Rajnish Kumar has been appointed as the chairman of BharatPe.

  • Fintech startup, BharatPe has appointed former State Bank of India (SBI) chairman Rajnish Kumar as the chairman of its board on October 12, 2021.
  • As the Chairman, Kumar will be responsible to:
    • Mentor the BharatPe team in formulating short-term and long-term strategy
    • Work closely with the board and executives on regulatory matters
    • Advise and counsel the management on corporate governance
