India successfully test-fired "Pralay" missile off Odisha coast.
- India has successfully test-fired a short-range, surface-to-surface guided ballistic missile Pralay off the Odisha coast in Balasore on December 22, 2021.
- The test was conducted from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha.
- The missile achieved the desired quasi ballistic trajectory and successfully reached the specified target with a high degree of accuracy, validating the control, guidance and mission algorithms.
- The Pralay missile has been developed by the Defense Research Development Organization and is based on the Prithvi defense vehicle of the Indian ballistic missile programme.
- Equipped with a solid-propellant rocket motor and several new technologies, also has a state-of-the-art navigation system and integrated avionics.
- It has a range of 150-500 km.
- The missile can be fired from a mobile launcher.
India among world’s top 3 dope violators in the latest WADA report.
- A WADA report has ranked India among the top three biggest doping violators in the world.
- Indian athletes engaged in dope-related activities 152 times in the year 2019, with bodybuilding, weightlifting and athletics making major contributions to the country's embarrassing record.
- The report reveals the latest report published by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), which has put India in the top three of the world's biggest violators behind Russia (167) and Italy (157).
- Brazil (78) is in 4th place and Iran (70) in 5th place.
- In Olympic sports around the world, athletics leads the way in dope offenders with 227 (18 percent), followed by weightlifting with 160.
- Bodybuilding is ahead overall with 272.

- This year's Padma Bhushan awardee environmentalist Dr Anil Prakash Joshi has been honored with the Mother Teresa Memorial Award for Social Justice 2021.
- Vidyut Mohan, winner of the Prithvi Shot Award, and Ridhima Pandey, a young environmental activist from Uttarakhand, were also recipients of the award.
- Dr Joshi was given the award for his efforts as a changemaker in the environmental sustainability sector by impacting over 10,000 villages in the Himalayan region through his Himalayan Environmental Studies and Conservation Organization.
- Vidyut was awarded for his original and ingenious efforts in combating air pollution through his social enterprise Takachar.
- Ridhima, on the other hand, received the award for her stellar courage and indomitable spirit as a young environmental activist who has made national partnerships to stop climate change.
India wins bronze in Asian Champions Trophy, Korea lift title.
- India beat Pakistan 4-3 to clinch the bronze medal, while Korea beat Japan 4-2 in the Asian Champions Trophy men's hockey tournament held in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
- The five-nation tournament ended with two matches being played on the last day of play.
- Japan's Kanta Tanaka was adjudged the player of the tournament while India's Suraj Karkera was adjudged the best goalkeeper.
- Korea's Jang Jonghyun was the top scorer in the tournament with 10 goals.
