Atal Innovation Mission unveiled the Vernacular Innovation Program.

  • NITI Aayog's Atal Innovation Mission has unveiled the Vernacular Innovation Program, which will enable innovators and entrepreneurs in India to access the innovation ecosystem in 22 languages scheduled by the Centre.
  • This will help remove language barriers and empower innovators.



Maharashtra launches Chalo mobile app and smart card for bus travel.

  • Maharashtra Tourism and Environment Minister Aaditya Thackeray launched mobile applications Chalo Mobile Application and Chalo Smart Card.
  • It is to facilitate digital and advance purchase of BEST bus tickets.
  • They also launched BEST's NCMC compliant smart card as well as new fare plans for travelers, one offering 10 trips for Rs 70 and the other called Flexifre.
  • Chalo mobile app will allow passengers to buy bus tickets online and access bus passes through e-wallets.
  • A contract worth Rs 85 crore has been awarded for six years for the maintenance of Chalo mobile application.



IFFCO-Tokio General Insurance appointed HO Suri as MD and CEO.

  • IFFCO-Tokio General Insurance on 22 December announced the appointment of HO Suri as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.
  • Suri was the financial advisor, head, internal audit and legal at the company, and the new position took effect on October 1.
  • IFFCO-Tokio General Insurance Company Limited is a 51:49 joint venture between IFFCO and Tokio Marine Group of Japan.
  • The firm offers retail products such as motor, health, travel, home and personal accident insurance and corporate insurance products.



Anahat Singh became the 1st Indian girl to win the Junior Squash Open in the US.

  • Indian teenager Anahata Singh has created history by winning the under-15 girls category of the prestigious Junior US Open squash tournament in Philadelphia.
  • According to the information received here, in the under-15 category, Anahata won the title by defeating Zaida Marei of Egypt 11-9, 11-5, 8-11, 11-5.
  • Earlier, he defeated US national champion Dixon Hill 11-8, 11-9, 11-5 in the semi-finals.
  • More than 850 squash junior players representing 41 countries participated in the world's largest junior individual squash tournament.



Central Bank of India signed a co-lending agreement with U GRO Capital.

  • Central Bank of India and U GRO Capital has signed a co-lending agreement and under this partnership, the two entities aim to disburse upto Rs. 1000 crore to UGRO Capital’s varied MSME segments under its programs like Pratham, Sanjeevani, Saathi, GRO MSME and Machinery financing, in next 12 months.
  • Central Bank of India will provide co-lending support through the GRO-Xstream platform with the loans originated by U GRO Capital’s distribution network.
  • The arrangement will ensure the availability of credit to MSMEs at an affordable cost.
