PM Modi to lay foundation stone of 4 hydro power projects in HP.

  • PM Modi will visit Mandi, Himachal Pradesh to inaugurate and lay foundation stones for hydroelectric projects worth over Rs 11,000 crore.
  • He will lay the foundation stone of Renukaji Dam project, pending for nearly three decades.
  • He also inaugurated the Sawara-Kuddu hydroelectric project.
  • This 111 MW project has been constructed at a cost of approximately ₹ 2,080 crore.
  • Other projects are: Luhri Phase 1 Hydroelectric Project and Dhaulasiddh Hydro Electric Project.

World Sangeet Tansen festival organized in Madhya Pradesh.

  • The 97th edition of the World Music Tansen Utsav in Madhya Pradesh began in Gwalior.
  • The five-day World Sangeet Tansen festival begins in the city from December 25 to December 30.
  • The program has been built on the theme of the Siddhanath temple in Omkareshwar.
  • Not only India but also many artists from abroad will participate in the music festival.
  • Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will inaugurate the function.
  • Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia will be present as special guests.
  • The 1st seven concerts were held on a stage prepared at Tansen's Tomb and Mohammad Ghaus's Tomb.
  • The 8th concert will be held on December 30 at Behat (Tansen's birthplace) on the banks of river Jhilmil.
  • The final brief concert will be held on the same day at the Gwalior Fort.

  • Anukreethy Upadhyay's novel, Kintsugi, was published by Fourth Estate Chhap and won the Sushila Devi Award 2021 for Best Book of Fiction.
  • Ratanlal Foundation and the organizing committee of Bhopal Literature and Art Festival have announced the winner of this prestigious award for a novel written by a woman author and published in 2020.
  • The award has been instituted by Shree Ratanlal Foundation.

  • The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu has launched the Meendam Manjappai scheme to promote the use of cloth bags by the public and discourage the use of plastic bags.
  • The purpose of this awareness campaign on the use of yellow cloth bags or manjapai is to encourage people to return to the use of this eco-friendly bag and give up plastic bags.
  • The state government had banned the production, use, storage, distribution, transport or sale of 14 types of plastics with effect from January 1, 2019.

Rajnath Singh inaugurates BrahMos missile manufacturing unit in Lucknow.

  • Defense Minister Rajnath Singh laid the foundation stone of BrahMos Aerospace cruise missile manufacturing unit in Lucknow.
  • He also laid the foundation stone of DRDO Defense Technology and Testing Center in Lucknow.
  • The BrahMos project will help in creating 5,500 new employment opportunities.
  • BrahMos is a joint venture of Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) of India and NPOM of Russia.
  • The BrahMos missile is named after India's Brahmaputra River and Russia's Moskva River.
  • The three wings of the Indian Defense Forces have already inducted the BrahMos advanced weapon System.
  • Recently, India successfully test-fired the aerial version of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile from the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur.
