Google launches "Play Pass" subscription in India.
- Google announced the launch of Play Pass subscription service in India.
- It will provide Android device users access to over 1,000 applications and games without ads, in-app purchases, and upfront payments.
- Play Pass, which is currently available in 90 countries, will offer a high-quality and curated collection of 1000+ titles across 41 categories from developers across 59 countries including many from India.
Cochin Airport to become power-positive with new solar plant.
- The Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) is set to commission a 12 MWp solar power plant on March 6 near Payyannur in Kannur district of Kerala.
- With the commissioning of the new solar power plant, CIAL will get the status as power positive airport, from its current status of being a power-neutral airport.
- In 2015, CIAL became the world’s first airport to be fully powered by solar energy.
Japan and India renews Bilateral Swap Arrangement of up to $75 billion.
- Japan and India have renewed the Bilateral Swap Arrangement (BSA) of up to $75 billion with effect from February 28, 2022.
- The Bank of Japan, acting as agent for the Minister of Finance of Japan, and the Reserve Bank of India signed the Amendment and Restatement Agreement of the BSA.
- The BSA is a two-way arrangement where both authorities can swap their local currencies in exchange for the US Dollar.
- The size of the BSA remains unchanged, that is, up to 75 billion US Dollars.
Madhabi Puri Buch Appointed First Woman Chairperson Of SEBI.
- Former ICICI Banker, Madhabi Puri Buch has been appointed as the new Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) chairman, replacing Ajay Tyagi.
- She is the first woman chief of SEBI and also the first non-IAS to head the regulatory body.
- She is the first woman chairperson of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI).
- Ms Buch, the former head of ICICI Securities, also served in SEBI between 2017 and 2021 as a Whole Time Member.
- She will replace Ajay Tyagi as his term ends on February 28.
- Mr Tyagi was appointed as SEBI Chairperson on March 1, 2017, for three years.
Pooja Jatyan became 1st Indian to win a silver in Para Archery World Championships.
- Pooja Jatyan became the first Indian to win a silver in an individual section of the Para World Championships in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
- She lost to Italy's Patrilli Vincenza in the final and was satisfied with the silver medal.
- India ended its campaign with two silver medals, a first for the country.
- India has won 2 Silver medals for the first time in the Para Archery World Championship.
- The compound mixed pair of Shyam Sundar Swamyand Jyoti Baliyan had earlier opened India’s account by winning a silver medal.
