India ranked 46th in EIU’s Democracy Index.
- According to The Economist Intelligence Unit, India is ranked 46th in the 2021 Democracy Index's global rankings.
- With the highest score of 9.75, Norway topped the Democracy Index 2021 by Economist Intelligence.
- The list was published on February 10, 2022.
- India ranked 46th in the list with 6.91 points.
- Our neighbor Pakistan is placed further down in the hybrid regime with a rank of 104.
NABARD launched "Jeeva Programme" to promote natural farming.
- The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has launched Jiva Programme to promote natural farming under its existing watershed and wadi programs in 11 states.
- To effectively apply the principles of agroecology to long-term sustainability and transform the already existing social and natural capital towards efficient farming.
- JIVA is an agroecology-based programme, an amalgamation of several projects under the watershed programme of NABARD.
- And It will be implemented in 11 states covering five agroecological zones, which are in ecologically fragile and rain-fed areas.
National Monuments Authority to hold first ever global webinar on Monuments.
- The National Monuments Authority will organize the first global webinar on monument conservation.
- The webinar will be organized in collaboration with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations on the conservation of monuments and their importance for the protection of national heritage.
- In this 20 countries including Bangladesh, Bhutan, Japan, Iran, South Africa, Venezuela, Israel and America will participate.
- This is the 1st ever global webinar on the conservation of monuments.
4th India-UK Home Affairs Dialogue held.
- The 4th India-UK Home Affairs Dialogue has been held in virtual mode.
- The Indian delegation was led by Union Home Secretary, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, and the United Kingdom, UK delegation was led by Permanent Secretary, Home Office, Mathew Rycroft.
- Dialogue covered wide range of issues including Homeland Security, Cyber Security, Extradition cases, Migration & Mobility, etc.
- The dialogue concluded with both sides agreeing to deepen security-related bilateral engagement.
India's Goa Shipyard Limited delivered the 5th vessel ICGS "Saksham".
- India's Goa Shipyard Limited delivered the 5th and final vessel of the Coast Guard Offshore Patrol Vehicle (CGOPV) project ahead of the contractual schedule.
- The vessel was named ICGS Saksham.
- Point to be underlined- All the 5 ships have been delivered to the Indian Coast Guard ahead of time.
- The contract for 5 CGOPVs was signed by GSL with the Ministry of Defense on 26 August 2016.
