4th edition of India Boat & Marine Show (IBMS) concludes in Kochi.

  • The 4th edition of the India Boat & Marine Show (IBMS) was held at Bolgatty Palace in Kochi in Kerala.
  • IBMS is India’s only and most influential Boat and Marine industry related exhibition.
  • The event is organised by Kochi-based Cruz Expo.
  • The IBMS 2022 showcased leading international brands as well as indigenous boat manufacturers from across the country.
  • Around 45 exhibitors from all over India and two international exhibitors participated in the expo.



India’s unemployment rate falls to 7.6% in March from 8.1% in Feb 2022.

  • The overall unemployment rate in India has dropped from 8.10% (February 2022) to 7.6% (March 2022), as per the data from the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE).
  • The report also stated that though the overall unemployment rate in the country is falling, it is still high for a poor country like India.
  • The decrease in the ratio shows that the economy is getting back on track after being hit by COVID-19 for two years.
  • As per the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) report, Haryana has the highest unemployment rate in March 2022, at 26.7%. followed by Rajasthan (25%) and Jammu and Kashmir (25 %), Bihar (14.4%), Tripura (14.1%) and West Bengal (5.6%).
  • Karnataka and Gujarat states have registered the least unemployment rate at 1.8.% each in March 2022.
  • In April 2021, India’s overall unemployment rate was 7.97% and raised to 11.84% in May last year.



Australia beat England to win 2022 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup.

  • Australia defeated England by 71 runs to win a record-extending seventh Women’s ODI World Cup title at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch, New Zealand.
  • Alyssa Healy of Australia scored 170 runs in the match, the highest individual score made by any cricketer, male or female, in the World Cup Final.
  • She was also the leading run-scorer in the tournament with 509 runs.
  • Player of the Tournament went to Alyssa Healy. Sophie Ecclestone of England was the leading wicket-taker in the tournament, with 21 dismissals.
  • The 2022 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup was the 12th edition of the Women’s Cricket World Cup.
  • The tournament was held in New Zealand from 4 March to 3 April 2022.



India-Australia sign Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (IndAus ECTA).

  • India and Australia on Saturday signed an Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (ECTA) that seeks to almost double bilateral trade in the next five years to $45-50 billion from $27 billion now.
  • India and Australia began the process for IndAus ECTA from September 30, 2021.
  • The ECTA was signed by Indian Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal, and Australian Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment, Mr. Dan Teha.
  • Prime Minister of India, Shri. Narendra Modi and the Prime Minister of Australia, Scott Morrison also attended the event.
  • ECTA would remove trade barriers and open up huge opportunities in both goods and services for both nations.



India-Turkmenistan inks four agreements during President Ram Nath Kovind’s 3-day official visit to Turkmenistan.

  • India and Turkmenistan witnessed signing of four agreements on April 02, 2022, during the state visit of President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind to Turkmenistan.
  • He is the first-ever President of India to visit independent Turkmenistan.
  • The agreement was signed in the presence of Indian President Mr. Kovind and Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
  • President Kovind is on a week-long state visit to two nations, Turkmenistan (April 01-03) and the Netherlands (April 04-07).
  • The four MoUs signed between India and Turkmenistan includes:
    • MoU between the Financial Monitoring Service at the Ministry of Finance and Economy, of Turkmenistan and Financial Intelligence Unit of India
    • MoU between Governments of Turkmenistan and India for cooperation in the field of Disaster Management.
    • Program of Cooperation in the Fields of Culture and Arts between Governments of Turkmenistan and India for the period 2022-2025.
    • MoU between Ministry of Sports and Youth Policy, Turkmenistan and Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, India for cooperation in Youth Matters.
