India's biggest drone festival inaugurated at Pragati Maidan in Delhi.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated the Bharat Drone Mahotsav, touted as the country’s biggest drone festival at the Pragati Maidan in Delhi.
- A two-day event which will be held on May 27 and 28, will be attended by over 1600 delegates comprising government officials, foreign diplomats, armed forces, central armed police forces, PSUs, private companies and drone startups.
Indian novel "Tomb of Sand" wins International Booker Prize.
- Geetanjali Shree’s Tomb of Sand has become the first Hindi novel to win the International Booker Prize.
- The translated Hindi novel has become the first book written in an Indian language to win the prestigious 2022 International Booker Prize.
- Gitanjali Shree's Tomb of Sand, winner of the International Booker Prize 2022, was one of the 13 long-listed novels.
- Geetanjali will be awarded GBP 80,000, which will be split evenly between the author and the translator.
Anwar Hussain Sheikh appointed as the chairman of the Committee on Technical Barriers to Trade of the World Trade Organization.
- Anwar Hussain Shaik has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Committee on Technical Barriers to Trade under Council for Trade in Goods at the World Trade Organisation.
- He is the first Indian representative to chair the committee after 10 years.
- The World Trade Organization is a global international trade organization that deals with the rules of trade between nations.
- The main objective of the organisation is to ensure that trade flows as smoothly, predictably and freely as possible.
A state-of-the-art supercomputer named PARAM PORUL commissioned at NIT, Tiruchirappalli.
- A supercomputer named Param Porul was inaugurated at NIT Tiruchirappalli under National Supercomputing Mission (NSM).
- The NSM is a joint initiative of Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and Department of Science and Technology (DST).
- Under the NSM, a total of 15 supercomputers have been installed across the country with compute capacity of 24 petaflops.
Indian wrestler Satendra Malik will no longer participate in any wrestling competition.
- Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) has imposed a life ban on wrestler Satender Malik after he thrashed referee Jagbir Singh during CWG trials inside the KD Jadhav Hall at the IGI stadium.
- The incident took place after Satender Malik lost the 125kg final during the Commonwealth Games 2022 trials.
- Following the ban, the wrestler will not be allowed to take part in any wrestling event from now on.
