Bank of Maharashtra tops PSU lenders in chart of loan growth.

  • State-owned Bank of Maharashtra (BoM) has emerged as the top performer among public sector lenders in terms of loan and deposit growth in percentage terms during 2021-22.
  • It was followed by State Bank of India and Union Bank of India with 10.27 per cent and 9.66 per cent growth, respectively.
  • It recorded a 26 per cent increase in gross advances at Rs 1, 35,240 crore at the end of March 2022.



Pankaj Sharma appointed as part-time member of Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA).

  • The Centre has appointed Pankaj Sharma, Joint Secretary in Department of Financial Services (DFS) as part-time member of the Pension Fund Regulatory & Development Authority (PFRDA).
  • In the PFRDA Board, Pankaj Sharma has come in the place of erstwhile DFS Additional Secretary Vandita Kaul.
  • PFRDA has a Chairman besides three whole-time members and three part-time members.



"Joyland" becomes the 1st Pakistani film to win an award at the Cannes Film Festival.

  • Joyland, Salim Sadiq’s directorial debut, became Pakistan’s first-ever film to bag an award at the Cannes Film Festival.
  • It won the Jury Prize in the Un Certain Regard section at the 75th edition of the fete.
  • Joyland was also awarded the Prix Queer Palm by Jury chaired by filmmaker Catherine Corsini.



An indigenous supercomputer "Param Anant" with computing power capacity of 838 Teraflops joins IIT Gandhinagar.

  • The government has deployed an indigenously developed Param Ananta supercomputer with 838 teraflops computing power capacity at IIT Gandhinagar.
  • The high power supercomputer can process 838 lakh crore calculations per second.
  • The government has deployed 12 supercomputers earlier at various leading academic institutes which include IIT Kharagpur, IIT Roorkee, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Pune etc.
  • The top supercomputer 210 AI PetaFlops Param Siddhi with a processing power of 6.5 petaflops has been deployed at CDAC, Pune.



Takshashila Sports Complex inaugurated at Pune's Viman Nagar with an investment of about Rs 2.1 crore.

  • Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Anurag Thakur inaugurated the Takshashila Sports Complex built by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) at Viman Nagar.
  • With the objective to create international level sportsmen, Pune Municipal Corporation has developed Takshashila Sports Complex at Viman Nagar with an investment of around Rs 2.1 crore.
  • There is an open-air gymnasium at the complex apart from state-of-the art facilities for the sportspersons. Similarly, a mini football ground has also been developed.
