India elected to UNESCO's Inter-Governmental Panel for 4 years for the 3rd time.
- India has been elected to the Inter-governmental Committee of UNESCO's 2003 Convention for safeguarding the Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) for four years.
- This is the third time that India has been elected to the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the ICH.
- India has previously served as a member of the ICH Committee twice - from 2006 to 2010 and from 2014 to 2018.
- The Intergovernmental Committee of the 2003 Convention consists of 24 members, which are elected by the General Assembly of the States Parties.
India's 1st Animal Health Summit 2022 inaugurated.
- Parshottam Rupala, Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying inaugurated First India Animal Health Summit 2022.
- The first India Animal Health Summit 2022 was held at the NASC Complex in New Delhi.
- Rupala was the keynote speaker at the inauguration of the India Animal Health Summit 2022, which was co-hosted by the Indian Chamber of Food and Agriculture (ICFA) and the Agriculture Today Group.
- Gopinath served as the 1st female chief economist of the Washington-based global lender for three years.
Swami Ramanujacharya's 4-feet tall "Statue of Peace" unveiled in Srinagar.
- Union Home Minister Amit Shah virtually unveiled a 4-feet-tall Statue of Peace, in Sonwar, commemorating Sri Ramanujacharya who promoted the idea of equality in all aspects of living, and drove home the 11th century Bhakti saint's message of equality of all.
- Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the saint’s 216-feet statue in Hyderabad in February.
- Saint Ramanujacharya, also known as Ramanuja, is considered to be a great thinker, philosopher and social reformer, a south Indian Brahmin born in Tamil Nadu’s Sriperumbudur.
- He is a follower of Vaishnavism and taught people the principles of salvation.
- Sri Ramanujacharya visited Kashmir in the 11th Century to get an important manuscript called Bodhayana Vritti, a treatise on the Brahma Sutras.
NTPC REL joins hands with GACL to set up India's 1st commercial-scale green ammonia project.
- NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL), a fully-owned subsidiary of NTPC, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Limited (GACL) to collaborate in setting up India's first commercial-scale Green Ammonia and Green Methanol projects.
- GACL is a Gujarat government PSU engaged in the production of industrial chemical products.
- NTPC Limited has been at the forefront of renewable energy capacity development and has been credited for bringing the lowest ever solar tariff in the country.
India’s first floating LNG terminal likely to operationalise in 2022.
- First floating terminal of India for liquefied natural gas (LNG) at Jaigarh in Maharashtra is expected to be operational in the second half of 2022.
- Floating storage and regasification units (FSRUs) of H-Energy Gateway at Jaigarh and the Swan Energy-led terminal at Jafrabad are cumulatively expected to add 11 million tonnes per annum of regasification capacity.
- The sixth LNG import terminals was Mundra LNG in 2020.
