President Droupadi Murmu presents National Florence Nightingale Awards.

  • President Droupadi Murmu presented the National Florence Nightingale Awards for the years 2022 and 2023 to nursing professionals at a function held at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
  • The President presented the prestigious award to a total of 30 health associates.
  • Out of the total awardees, there were 10 Auxiliary Nurses and Midwives (ANM), 4 lady health visitors and 16 nurses.
  • The National Florence Nightingale Award was instituted by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, in the year 1973 as a mark of recognition for the meritorious services rendered by the nurses and nursing professionals to the society.


Maharashtra Govt Announces Insurance Scheme For Warkari Pilgrims.

  • The Maharashtra government announced that they would now be provided insurance coverage, which will be benefit millions of Warkari pilgrims.
  • For this, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde introduced the Vitthal Rukmini Warkari Bima Chhatra Yojana.
  • Every year, thousands of pilgrims travel long distances of hundreds of kilometers from their respective villages to Pandharpur in Solapur district to take part in the Ashadhi Ekadashi celebrations at the Vitthal temple.
  • Accidents and mishaps occur during the Wari, leading to injuries or unfortunate fatalities among the Warkaris.
  • Under this scheme, Warkaris' family will receive an ex-gratia grant of INR 5 lakh. In case of permanent disability or disability due to an accident, INR 1 lakh will be provided.
  • For partial disability, INR 50,000 will be given, and up to INR 35,000 will be available for medical treatment in case of illness during the Wari.

  • Tamil Nadu Police launches initiative for safety of women travelling alone at night.
  • The Tamil Nadu Police launched a new initiative Pengal Pathukappu Thittam, giving top priority to the matter of women safety in the state.
  • Under this, women travelling alone in remote locations can seek police assistance anytime if they feel unsafe.
  • The police have also launched a helpline for women travelling alone at night between 10 pm and 6 am. The helpline numbers are 1091, 112, 044-23452365 and 044-28447701.
  • In October last year, Coimbatore Police launched a project called Police Akka (Police sister) to prevent young girls, especially college students from falling prey to cybercrime.

  • Chief Minister Yogi unveils the first ticket for the first race of MotoGP India 2023.
  • It is going to be hosted by India for the first time and the race will be organised in Uttar Pradesh.
  • The event is scheduled to be held at the Buddha International Circuit in Greater Noida from September 22 to 24.
  • The run will provide employment to around 5000 people in the state and is expected to generate revenue of around Rs 1000 crore.


India beat Bangladesh to win Women’s Emerging Asia Cup 2023.

  • The India U-23 women’s team won the 2023 Women’s Emerging Asia Cup T20 title after defeating Bangladesh in the final held at the Mission Round Ground in Hong Kong.
  • India’s Kanika Ahuja was named the Player of the Match, who stayed not out on 30 off 23 with four fours in the final.
  • While India’s Shreyanka Patil was named the Player of the Series, as she was the highest-wicket taker.
  • India has scored 127 for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs.
