Uttarakhand To Become The 1st State To Adopt The Uniform Civil Code.

• Uttarakhand is reportedly set to become the first state in the country to implement the Uniform Civil Code.
• The UCC is a proposal to formulate and implement personal laws that will apply uniformly to all citizens regardless of their religion, gender, or sexual orientation.
• Aim: To strengthen the social fabric, promote gender equality, and help fight economic, social, and religious inequalities.
• The code comes under Article 44 of the Constitution.

India’s Retail Inflation drops to 4.87 % in October 2023.

• The National Statistical Office (NSO), Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation has released All India Consumer Price Index (CPI) on Base 2012=100 and corresponding Consumer Food Price Index (CFPI) for Rural (R), Urban (U) and Combined (C) for the month of October 2023.
• CPIs for Sub-Groups and Groups for both All India and all States/UTs have also been released.
