Japan builds World's first Wooden made Satellite.
- Japanese researchers have developed LignoSat, a wooden satellite crafted from magnolia wood.
- LignoSat is a collaborative effort between Kyoto University and the logging company Sumitomo Forestry.
- LignoSat is scheduled to launch on a SpaceX rocket from the Kennedy Space Center in September.
- It aims to reduce space debris by burning up completely upon re-entry into Earth's atmosphere.
RBI shifts 100 tonnes of Gold from UK to India.
- RBI has moved over 100 tonnes of Gold from the UK to its domestic vaults.
- It marks the 1st time at least since 1991 when the Gold at this scale has been added to the stock.
- At the end of March 2024, the RBI held 822.10 tonnes of Gold, of which 408.31 tonnes were held domestically.
- RBI purchased 200 tonnes of Gold in 2009 during the financial crisis.
- RBI bought 19 tonnes of Gold in Q4-FY24
TCS & IIT-Bombay to build India's 1st Quantum Diamond Microchip Imager.
- Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IIT-Bombay) to develop India's first Quantum Diamond Microchip Imager.
- This advanced sensing tool aims to unlock new levels of precision in the examination of semiconductor chips, reduce chip failures, and improve the energy efficiency of electronic devices.
- The project aligns with the National Quantum Mission.
National Archives launches first overseas project in Oman.
- National Archives of India completed its inaugural international project, The Oman Collection, aimed at digitizing and preserving documents of the Indian diaspora in Oman from as far back as 1838.
- Conducted at the Indian embassy in Muscat the project involved 32 prominent Indian families from Gujarat.
- Over 7,000 documents in English, Arabic, Gujarati, and Hindi, were digitized.
Reliance Industries to build India's First Multimodal Logistics Park.
- Construction of the Rs 1,424 cr. Multimodal Logistics Park at Mappedu near Chennai will commence in June.
- The park aims to revolutionize logistics in the region with facilities for cargo handling, intermodal transfer, and repacking, enhancing efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- The park is close to major ports and is expected to handle 7.17 million tonnes of cargo over 45 years.
