India Leads Sri Lanka's Tourism with 36,417 Arrivals in October.

• Indian tourists represent 27% share out of the total of 1.35 lakh for the month.
• The total Indian tourists that have travelled to Sri Lanka this year has reached 3.23 lakhs, which is well above the 3.03 lakh tourist arrivals from India last year.
• Statistics from the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority show that in the year so far, over 1.6 million tourists arrived in the island nation.

• Both private and government institutions can now offer these courses, helping to address the shortage of veterinary professionals and enhance rural veterinary care.

• The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) introduced the First in the World Challenge, urging Indian scientists to devise groundbreaking health solutions with global impact.
• This initiative focuses on high-risk, high-reward projects for innovative health technologies like vaccines, drugs, and diagnostics, avoiding incremental or process innovations.

Tamil Nadu declared heatwave as state-specific disaster.

• The Tamil Nadu government declared heatwaves a State-specific disaster, announcing ₹4 lakh ex-gratia for families of heat-related death victims, with relief funded by the State Disaster Response Fund.
• Besides heatwaves, Tamil Nadu also classified sea erosion, lightning, whirlwinds, and gale winds as disasters for relief eligibility.
