- The rise is mainly due to the ULLAS–Nav Bharat Saaksharta Karyakram.
- The update was shared by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on International Literacy Day 2025.
- He emphasized that literacy should lead to empowerment, dignity, and self-reliance.
- The Minister also urged efforts to ensure literacy for every citizen.
