RBI Constitutes Payments Regulatory Board to Oversee Payment Systems.

• RBI has set up a six-member Payments Regulatory Board (PRB) to oversee payment systems in India.
• The PRB replaces the Board for Regulation and Supervision of Payment and Settlement Systems (BPSS).
• The PRB is authorized under the Payment and Settlement Systems Act, 2007.
• RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra will chair the board.
• The Board will meet at least twice a year.

11th World Green Economy Summit Kicks Off in Dubai.

• The 11th World Green Economy Summit (WGES) opened in Dubai with 3,300 participants from over 30 countries at the World Trade Centre.
• Theme: Innovating for Impact: Accelerating the Future of the Green Economy.
• The summit runs alongside the Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX).
• Global Alliance on Green Economy (GAGE): It will unveil its 2024-2025 portfolio.

NASA Launches IMAP Mission to Explore Heliosphere and Space Weather.

• Mission: Interstellar Mapping and Acceleration Probe (IMAP) launched to study the heliosphere and track energetic particles.
• Objective: Map heliosphere boundary and study solar wind, energetic particles, and magnetic fields; Understand solar particle energization and how the heliosphere shields Earth from galactic radiation.
• Position: Located at Earth-Sun Lagrange Point 1 (L1).

Dubai plans to introduce a 15-kilometer driverless transport corridor by 2026.

• Dubai is launching a 15-km autonomous transport corridor called the Dubai Autonomous Zone (DAZ).
• The project will include driverless vehicles and marine transport.
• The corridor will connect key areas like Al Jaddaf Metro Station, Dubai Creek Harbour, and Dubai Festival City.
• The DAZ is set to be operational by early 2026.
• This initiative supports Dubai’s goal to have 25% of daily trips autonomous by 2030.
• The announcement was made at the Dubai World Congress for Self-Driving Transport.

Dr. R. Arthur James Receives Tamil Nadu Scientist Award 2022.

• Dr. R. Arthur James, Professor and Chair of Marine Science at Bharathidasan University, was honoured with the Tamil Nadu Scientist Award (TANSA) 2022 in Environmental Science.
• The award, including a ₹50,000 cash prize and a citation.
• Recognized for his outstanding work in marine research and sustainable environmental practices.
